John Seagle was the son of Johannes Segel and Margaret Whisenhunt. His marriage to Barbara Ashabraner was his second. His first marriage was to Susannah Clay (daughter of Nicholas Clay). John and Susannah had 4 children; Daniel {known as General Daniel} (b: 1796), Chatorina (b: 1797), Margaret (b: 1799) and John (b: 1800). Susannah died about 1801 and John married Barbara Ashabraner about 1803. John and Barbara had 7 children; Absolem (b: 1803), David (b: 1805), Jacob (b: 1809){twin}, Sarah (b: 1809){twin}, Elizabeth (b: 1811), Henry (b: 1815) and Barbara (b: 1818).
